I've never tried putting chorizo in chilli, although I like it a lot in other things - particularly with greens or chickpeas. The Texas Red doesn't have bacon in (that was the beans) but does have chocolate - solid chocolate in the recipe, although I added a tablespoonful of cocoa powder instead. I do think it adds a nice rich bitterness, although it's probably better in chillis that aren't too tomatoey.
