I've just found
From History to Herstory, a site on women's lives in Yorkshire "1100 to the present", although I haven't seen anything particularly early on a brief browse through. It describes itself as a "...major and unique project in women's history, examining through the lives and organisations of Yorkshire women, the role women have played in history", and includes articles, transcripts and scans of original documents, and material for schools. Some of the pages appear to be broken, though, and the wording of the invitation to "Select a woman or topic to see how women have contributed to history" is a little puzzling. It looks very interesting, and worth looking at in detail - but not when I'm working.
