Compost bin advice wanted
Oct. 18th, 2007 10:14 amSomeone near me is selling this compost bin for #15, second hand. Is this a reasonable design, or will I wish I'd spent a bit more on it? Is there anything I should ask the owner/watch out for? Should I think about buying any of the accessories advertised on the site?
I'd be grateful for any general advice about composting, as well. I think I've got a spot worked out for it - sheltered on two sides, not too close to the house, out of sight - but it'll only get sun in the late afternoon, I think*, and I'm not sure whether that will keep it warm enough.
*It's proving rather hard to work out where the sunlight in the garden is going to be at different times of day - it keeps disappearing behind clouds as soon as I start paying attention.
ETA: Actually, I've just discovered that I can get the same model more cheaply through the council, so I don't have to decide right now. Advice is still welcome, though.
