Ice on the puddles this morning! Almost winter! I really should have remembered to start wearing my winter coat, though.

My trousers are growing. No, really. When I bought them, about a month ago, I noticed when trying them on that they came down almost to the floor even with boots on. No problem, I thought, I can't find any others at the moment, so I'll see how they go and get them shortened if necessary. When I first wore them to work, I found that after walking to the bus stop they had managed to slide down the back of my heels so that I was walking on them. I got through the day, hitching my trousers up surreptitiously every five minutes, but took them to be altered as soon as I could. Not being terribly competent with a needle, and not having a lot of time, I didn't attempt to shorten them myself. I was persuaded when I took the trousers in that an inch was a lot to take off at once, so went for 3/4. The next time I wore them after alteration they didn't appear to be shorter at all, despite the fact that I can see where the hem used to be folded, and it was indeed 3/4". So I went through another day hitching up my trousers. They've now reached the stage where the only thing stopping the waist sitting halfway down my hips is a pair of safety pins taking about two inches out of the waistband, and I know I haven't lost that much weight in a month! And the legs are still too long! Grrrr.
